Banana Milkshake Smoothie

There’s an ice cream shop on my way home from work that tempts me every warm afternoon because it serves the most delicious and creamy banana milkshake. And while I certainly indulge in the real deal occasionally, its enjoyment doesn’t usually last long because of the intense sugar and dairy overload, and so I decided to make a healthy alternative for when the craving strikes.

Honestly, I impressed myself with how dang delicious this healthy banana milkshake recipe is because it tastes remarkably like the real thing. My dad (and biggest recipe critic) also loved it, so I decided I had to share.

I get so excited when I can create a metabolically healthy alternative to a favorite treat. This recipe includes over 25 grams of protein, healthy fat, and fiber. It will satisfy your craving for a sweet treat while nourishing your body and balancing your blood sugar. Enjoy!

Banana Milkshake Smoothie

1 c almond or cashew milk

1 serving vanilla protein

½-⅓ avocado (fresh or frozen)

¼ frozen banana

Optional: add ice if banana and/or avocado aren’t frozen

** When it comes to protein powder, I’m extremely picky.**

In fact, there’s only one brand I’ve been using for over two years (since it came on the market). I love the BeWell brand because it has a complete grass-fed protein (not just collagen, which doesn’t contain a complete amino acid profile). It also has only three organic ingredients. The more ingredients a protein has, the more you as a consumer need to investigate the sourcing, quantity, and quality of each ingredient. No one needs a protein powder fortified with 20 vitamins and minerals. (If you want those things, find a high-quality multivitamin).

If you’d like to try BeWell protein, use the code KARA5 at checkout to save $5 on your order. Buy more than one bag for free shipping and even more bundled savings. (I always buy 3-4 bags at a time because they have a 2-year shelf life and the more I buy at once, the more I save)!

Happy blending!

XO,

Kara
